ASSIST Canada first started it’s work in Nicaragua and this country is near and dear to our hearts.  As time went on, we expanded into different countries but our love for the people of Nicaragua remained strong.

Recent political upheaval has turned the country upside down and over 70 000 jobs in tourism have been lost. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and up until 2018 was starting to improve and poverty rates were lowering. The recent political situation has turned Nicaraguans back into a rough spot. We are praying for safety and God’s overwhelming peace in this beautiful land.

Our main work in Nicaragua is supporting Pastor’s and their churches. Our hope is empowering them to lead in their communities. We currently support 15 Pastors but hope to increase that number soon. We also used to bring many short term mission teams but this has unfortunately dwindled in recent years.

We desire to have more focus on the country of Nicaragua and are excited to announce we will have a ufll time ASSIST ministry in country coming in 2020

Greg and Kait Isaak are from Ontario, Canada. They have been travelling to Nicaragua on short term mission trips, for over 12 years and God has placed a burden on their hearts for the people of Nicaragua

They, along with their 3 daughters, will soon be leaving Canada and moving to Nicaragua to answer God’s call to full time ministry. They will be expanding on what ASSIST already does as far as working with Pastors and returning to facilitating short term mission teams, as well as starting a program for orphaned and vulnerable children. ,

Lord willing, the Isaak’s will be purchasing a guest home in which they will be able to accomodate lodging for short term mission teams. Hosting trips is something they have done through their church in Canada in the past, and their goal is to see many Westerner’s fall in love with the people and causes of Nicaragua, as they did so many years ago. They desire to fulfil ASSIST’s commitment to share God’s work and show God’s love to the people of Nicaragua.

Please be in prayer for this family as they prepare for this life altering move. Pray that God directs their steps and gives clear guidance as they make the change to full time overseas ministry.
